A Guide to Choosing a Song for Your First Dance

If you are reading this, a congratulations may be in order! Wedding planning can be a bit daunting, and choosing a song for your first dance may seem overwhelming.  Some couples, have a song that they refer to as “their song,” so it’s a no brainer, but the fact of the matter is that most couples have no idea where to start!

Your first dance is a great way to set the tone for the evening and should be a reflection of your personalities and your relationship. The first thing you need to think about is if you want something romantic, funny or upbeat. The next thing to consider is the length of the song. We suggest that 1.5-2 minutes is the perfect amount of time to dance. It’s long enough for guests to enjoy, but not too long that it drags on. Do not worry if you end up choosing a song that is longer. Your DJ or your wedding dance choreographer may be able to cut the song down to a more appropriate length, even using just your favorite part of the song!

Below we have listed some of our favorite first dance songs to help guide you along the way. Let us help you take the pressure off choosing your first dance so that you can focus on the most important thing, which is your big day!
