A Bag Full of Inspiration

Ive always enjoyed spending time being involved in other places that have a similar philosophy as what you would experience at Arthur Murray. I don’t want to be a cynic, but finding businesses these days that have excellent customer service, and an uplifting environment is more rare than I’d like to admit. When I do get to experience these things, it makes me so happy!

This excellence is something I’ve experienced at places like Roy’s Hawaiian Fusion, Apple stores, BCBG, Lululemon, and of course Disneyland! Some are even local Mom and Pop joints which keep me coming back for more. Of course, I don’t want to have to head down to Disneyland every time I want to feel good.

As I mentioned in a previous blog, one of my Favorite Things (or places) was Lululemon. If you haven’t experienced this place, they have made it about more than just high quality workout clothing. They offer free classes in their store from Yoga to Zumba. It’s a hip, modern, place with fun people working there. The best part is you get a cool reusable bag, decorated in quotes that are quite inspiring.

Some of my favorites include:

  • “Stress is related to 99% of illness
  • “Friends are more important than money
  • “Do one thing a day that scares you
  • “Creativity is maximized when you’re living in the moment
  • “The world is changing at such a rapid rate that waiting to implement changes will leave you 2 steps behind
  • “A Daily hit of athletic-induced endorphins gives you the power to make better decisions, helps you to be at peace with yourself, and offset stress”.

Did you know, “Stress is related to 99% of illness?” Getting outside, exercising, eating a balance diet, and ballroom dancing are all proven stress relievers. I always say, “I never get sick” and I’m sure it’s partly because I say that. However, I now realize it’s because I have been a ballroom dance teacher my whole adult life. Being around music, dancing, and helping others has contributed to my health.

Staying inside our comfort zone isn’t going to help us to live a fulfilling life. “Doing one thing a day that scares you”, will keep you truly living and experiencing things that you didn’t think we’re possible. It might be scary but afterwards you will feel good and it will elevate your confidence level.

I also hear this all the time – “I don’t like change.” The fact of the matter is “The world is changing at such a rapid rate that waiting to implement changes will leave you 2 steps behind.” That is not where I want to be. Embrace change and hold on to your seat!

All of us work so hard to get ahead. We are always striving to be and do better. Remember –

We have all been told how powerful endorphins are for a healthy life. “A daily hit of athletic-induced endorphins gives you the power to make better decisions, help you to be a peace with yourself, and off-set stress”. Go for a brisk walk or dance a high energy Swing. Trust me, you’re going to feel great!

I have been told time and time again, when people walk into our dance studio, it is like walking into an adult Disneyland. People are smiling, having fun, in a positive environment that has an upbeat feeling. Many people are a bit skeptic of it at first, which is so sad. I believe it’s because they aren’t used to it, so they don’t believe it’s real. Well, it is real! That is what ballroom dancing and our company’s culture is all about, relieving stress, making friends, getting scared, being creative, changing your life, and having athletic endorphins are all a part of our daily dancing life. Sharing all of this with others is what we live for.

I will leave you with this – (Lulu definitely got this one right!)

Dance, Sing, Floss, and Travel! ” You’ll be happy you did!
