Dancing with the Stars – The Finale!

Wednesday, May 25, 2011

All the Stars were out tonight!  Musical greats such as, the Black Eyed Peas sang their killer song, ‘Don’t Stop the Party’, and Josh Groban surprised Petra Nemcova while she was dancing, with his song, ‘You Raise Me Up.’  All the Season 12 cast even returned to perform for the finale!  Well almost, Wendy Williams returned to interview herself.  What?  Exactly!  It was even wackier than she was during the show.  Macy’s Design a Dance, picked by the viewers, danced to the Go Go’s  ‘We Got the Beat.’  The dancers chosen? None other than Maksim Chmerkovskiy with Lacey Schwimmer, Chelsie Hightower, and Cheryl Burke.  It was good fun, but I’m ready for the results.  Semi-Finalist, Ralph Macchio came out dancing one of his best numbers, the Quickstep. Loved it!

To complete the final round which will comprise half of their score, the stars chose their favorite number of the season.  Chelsea chose their Viennese Waltz, which Len Goodman criticized the first time they danced it. It was a creative, wacky, and well executed Viennese Waltz.  They not only dance together, Mark Ballas and Chelsea Kane entertain.  Obviously,  Len changed his mind…  Score 30!  I’ll be shocked if they don’t go all the way!

Kirstie Alley chose her first number of the season, the Cha Cha.  It represents how far she’s come from her first dance and as she put it, “her first date.”  The dress she wore is literally half the size, as the seamstress had to take out 38 inches!  Her Cha Cha was sexy and sultry, and she looked fabulous!  Not only her first perfect 10, but she received three…Score 30!  This is gong to be close!

Samba it is for Hines Ward and Kym Johnson.  Hines has the most natural body rhythm of the season. Combine his body rhythm with his natural personality and abundance of patterns, this makes Hines as Carrie Ann Inaba put it, “the MVP of Season 12’s Dancing with the Stars.”  We’ll see if the viewers agree!  As for the judges, another perfect 30!

The votes are in, and in third place is Chelsea Kane.  I’m totally surprised, I thought for sure my prediction was right, but the viewers didn’t!  Runner-up… Kirstie Alley, who I had third.  The winner (my second place pick) is… Hines Ward!  Amazing and well deserved!  Really, you couldn’t go wrong with any of these stars. What a great season!
